The Detroit Historical Museum commemorates the history of Detroit. It recreates the city’s history through photographs, paintings, clothing and authentic furniture. Physical structures recreated in the lower level of the museum include: an old-fashioned general store, a doctor’s office, and a firehouse complete with the city’s original cobblestone streets. It is located at 5401 Woodward Ave  in Detroit.

This museum gives a different view of Detroit, in addition to just being identified as the motor capital of the world. There is a permanent exhibit of the underground railroad. Also, there are exhibits of other ethnic groups. Guided Tours, pamphlets, books, posters and gifts on Detroit history are available.
